Mangaluru: Senior retired meteorologist G Srinivasan (78), a resident of Bejai-Kapikad near here, passed away at his residence on Monday morning following a brief period of serious ailment. He is survived by his wife Rukmini, two sons, daughters-in-law and three grand children.
His elder son S Nandagopal, was formerly a correspondent of Times of India at Mangalore and Bangalore. He is presently running Centre for Integrated Learning, a city based NGO. His younger son Karthikeyan is an entrepreneur based at Hubli.
G Srinivasan served in different capacities in the Indian Meteorological Department for three decades all over the country including Lakshadweep and Kolkata.
A dedicated Rotarian, he had been active in socio-cultural and religious circles in the city for more than five decades. He was also a talented theatre artiste and was instrumental in establishing Kannada Kala Kendra in Mumbai and Bengaluru way back in the 60s.
