Retailer hacked to death in broad daylight

Kasaragod: Unidentified assailants hacked a retailer to death in the broad daylight of May 3 in Kayyar of Mandekaup in Kasaragod district.

The deceased has been identified as Ramakrishna Moolya (46), owner of J K General Stores.

It is learnt that the two miscreants who came in the guise of customers executed this crime. The assailants who came by car barged into the shop, brutally attacked Ramakrishna with machetes and fled the spot.There were five inside the car but only two assaulted Ramakrishna.

Ramakrishna, who was lying in a pool of blood was rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru but unfortunately breathed his last on the way.

Kasaragod Superintendent of Police K G Simon, DySP Sukumaran, Kumble Police Inspector Pector Manoj arrived inspected the spot.

In a span of four days, this is the second murder in the Kumble police station limits. On April 30, Abdul Salam was murdered by beheading. No sooner had the police arrested 6 accused in Salam’s murder case that another has been slain. Repeated murders in the region have created tension among the civilians of Uppala, Kumble.

It is also said that Ramakrisha had built a new house behind his shop and the house warming ceremony was scheduled on May 29.
