Mangalore: A move by AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi to choose Dakshina Kannada parliamentary constituency as one among 15 across India for the internal polls will see an electorate drawn up from among various sections of the party. But the move has been resented by many Congress members who are all likely to be denied an opportunity to cast their votes as only a select few will get an opportunity to vote.
The process is scheduled to be held on March 9.The voters registration process has already begun since Sunday February 23 although there has been trouble with that as well. Sixteen assistant returning officers will fan out into 16 block units of the Congress and camp there for three days from Sunday.
The process of drawing up the voters’ list will go on up to 1pm on February 25. Draft voters list will be published on February 26 and objections to the same, inclusions or exclusions, will be decided on February 27. Those desirous of contesting the primaries can file their nominations in person from noon up to 4pm on February 28. Disapproval to the candidature, if any can be filed before 1pm on March 1 and reply to which will be given 1pm on March 2.
