Mangaluru: The inaugural function of the Loyola Centre for Research and Innovation (LCRI) was held here on July 15.

Chief Guest of the programme Rev Fr Francis Serrao SJ Bishop of Shimoga blessed the new building. While addressing the gathering he said it is yet another milestone reached by St Aloysius Institution. “I hope that many intellectuals will study and graduate from this new building in this era where faith and reason is being questioned. It should be free of personal advancement and rivalry but with egolessness and patience”, he said.
Provincial, Karnataka Jesuit Province, Rev Fr Stanislaus presided over the ceremony and inaugurated the new building. Speaking on the occasion he said that this research centre will be a board of learning. Here one can bring in his views and St Aloysius College has broken new ground with this new building in the field of higher education. He also congratulated the College administration and wished them luck in their future activities.
DFRL Director Dr Harshvardhan Batra, Mysore who was the guest of honour, in his address said that without research and innovation there is no growth. “This particular institution has made several individuals. Everyone must be proud of having studied in this institution”, he said.
“Research should be taken as a passion and hobby then only one will enjoy what he is doing and keep growing. With this new building youngsters will get a chance to research for the sake of humanity and for the country. This new centre will give a further boost to the economy of the country”, he added.
Rev Fr Joseph Rodrigues, former rector of the college, ITI section in-charge Rev Fr Cyril Demello, Architect Oswald veigas, Contractor Vinod Pinto, Electrical Contractor Prakash and members of the building team were felicitated on the occasion.
St Aloysius Institutions Rector Rev Fr Denzil welcomed the gathering and St Aloysius College Principal Fr Swebert Dsilva rendered the vote of thanks.
