Mangaluru: MLA and former minister U T Khader urged the state government to release a white paper on Karnataka’s financial status, claiming that Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has been making confusing statements regarding the release of compensation for the flood victims.

Addressing the reporters here on Friday, October 4, Khader said, “When Yediyurappa visited the Dakshina Kannada district, he denied that there was any dearth in the funds for compensating the flood victims. But now, he says that there isn’t enough money to respond to the grievances. As the people of the state are confused by his statements, he should release a white paper about the financial status of the state immediately.”

Khader also condemned the attitude of the state’s BJP MPs for failing to convince the Union Government to release compensation for the flood victims. “The Union Government has insulted the people of Karnataka by not responding to the flood victims’ grievances. No elected representative from the BJP has the guts to convince and grab the attention of the Central Government towards the flood victims. Earlier, Late Ananth Kumar was able to draw Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attention towards Karnataka. But now, none of the BJP MPs show a similar leadership quality. It is an insult to the whole state,” he added.

Repair roads immediately

As the roads in the city are in a bad state, Khader urged the district administration to immediately take action and begin repair works. “Although devotees and tourists are thronging the Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara temple, they are fed up with the bad condition of our roads. Hence, immediate measures should be taken to repair both the main and interior roads,” he stressed.

Khader informed that the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are visiting houses to verify the voters’ list and to ensure that all eligible voters are included in said list. “However, there are complaints that the BLOs are not doing as told. If the people find that no BLOs have visited their homes, they should complain to the Tahasildar immediately,” he informed.

Mangaluru Taluk Panchayat president Mohammed Monu and other leaders like Mamatha Gatti, Ishwar Ullal, Padmanabh Naringana, Dinesh Kumpala, Ramesh Shetty and others were present.
