
Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district branch of Indian Red Cross Society has announced that blood bank functioning in the premises of Government Lady Goschen Hospital will provide platelet concentrates free of cost for the BPL dengue patients admitted in any hospital, till August 31, 2019.
District President of Red Cross Society C A Shantharam Shetty said that Red Cross Society has been running a blood bank in the premises of Government Lady Goschen Hospital and it has been issuing blood to the Lady Goschen Hospital patients free of cost. “But now, keeping the seriousness of dengue viral fever, Red Cross Society has decided to provide platelet concentrates free of cost for BPL patients undergoing medication in other hospitals as well. For non-BPL dengue patients admitted in any hospital, the platelet will be given at the rate of only Rs 200. This concession will be available up to August 31”, he informed.
Meanwhile, Shetty requested the public to donate blood voluntarily claiming that there is no substitute for blood and it gives life to others.
