Kasargod : A special police team that was formed to probe into the case of murder of realtor Muttalib at Uppala, has arrested the prime accused Kalia Rafique and his accomplice at Ajmer in Rajasthan. The total number of persons arrested in this case has now risen to four.
The police have already arrested Mohammad Rafique of Uppala and Ansar of Kurudapadavu on the charges of abetting the killers. The other person arrested along with Kalia Rafique in Ajmer is Samshuddin.
Muttalib was brutally hacked to death after firing gun shots at him and then injuring him with lethal weapons by a gang which waylaid him when he was on way home in his car on October 24 night.
Police sources said Kalia Rafique and his accomplice had fled to Bangalore soon after the crime. From there they went to Mumbai and then to Ajmer where they were eventually caught.
Police said Kalia Rafique has revealed during interrogation that they had hatched the murder plot two months ago.
Kalia Rafique is a dreaded criminal who was wanted in several cases of murder, murder attempts and robbery. It is learnt, Kalia Rafique had murdered Muttalib while he was on bail in a drugs peddling case in Vittal.
