Kasargod :  A real estate businessman from Uppala has been hacked to death by some unidentified assailants on October 24, Thursday night. The deceased is Muthalib(38).

The murder took place when Muthalib was on way home in his car. Just as he was 100 meters away from his flat, some assailants waylaid the car. As Muthalib sped forth in his bid to escape, his car hit the compound wall of a house  before coming to a halt. The assailants then entered the car and hacked him to death  with sharp weapons.

Though Muthalib was  involved in a few criminal cases including murder attempts, he had reportedly distanced himself from crime since two years  and was into real estate business.

Meanwile, police suspect the hands of noted criminal Kaliya Rafique of Uppala and his associates behind the killing. It is said there were four assailants. Bullet marks were also found on Muthalib’s body.

Though Mutalik was rushed to the hospital, he breathed his last on way. A post mortem was conducted at the Periyaram Medical College.

Senior police officials including SP Thomson Jose visited the spot. Police have spread a dragnet to nab the killers.
