Moodbidri : A long queue of people is once again seen outside the Tahsildar’s office here ever since the government has given another opportunity to apply for fresh ration cards.

Though rules permit the applicants to submit the applications in the respective gram panchayats, once the same is verified by the panchayat, it has to be brought to the Tahsildar’s office for a signature of the Food Inspector.
Moreover, as the Food Inspector is available in the Tahsildar’s office only on one day during the week, there naturally will be a long line of applicants.
The problem of the applicants however does not end here. Once the application gets the signature of the Food Inspector, the same has to be taken to the Mangalore Tahsildar’s office where again they will have to spend one whole day.
In the backdrop of all these problems, Valerian Cutinha, former president of Hosabettu gram panchayat has requested the Deputy Commissioner to make arrangements to distribute ration cards in the respective gram panchayats.
