Rally in city demanding due recognition to Tulu

: Several eminent Tulu personalities participated in a rally which was taken out from Ambedkar Circle to the DC office here on September 7, Saturday  to prevail upon the government to give Tulu its due constitutional status by including it in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.The rally was organised by the Namma Tulunad Trust in association with other like-minded organizations.

Dr Vamana Nandavara, eminent Tulu writer and former president of the Tulu Sahitya Academy, who addressed the participants of the rally near the DC office,  the struggle to get Tulu its due recognition will continue  until the government concedes to the demand.

Meanwhile, Mangalore North MLA Moidin Bava in his address, promised all out efforts on the part of the state government to give Tulu its due status. The government has already  written to the Union Government in this regard, he informed.

DK District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Sunitha Shetty, veteran writer from Mumbai, Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of Sahitya Parishat, Vijaykumar Kodialbail, eminent Tulu theatre personality, Lakshminarayana Asranna, Chief Priest of Kateel Temple,  GVS Ullal, Founder President of Tulunad Trust and others participated in the rally.

The rallyists later submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah through the Deputy Commissioner.
