Mangalore : State Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment and District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai has pulled up officials for poor progress in the implementation of Basava Housing Scheme and various other government schemes meant for the welfare of the poor.






Rai was presiding over the District tri-monthly KDP Review Meeting held at Zilla Panchayat Auditorium on July 11, Thursday. Continuing Rai said the progress under the various schemes was highly unsatisfactory and warned that the officials themselves will be held responsible for the same.
He also said a meeting with the Rajeev Gandhi Housing Corporation MD will be convened to discuss some the technical issues pertaining to the Basava Housing Scheme.
Even the issue of the multi-village drinking water project came up for discussion at the meeting and even in this case the officials came under fire from the district minister.


Referring to the confusion over Aadhaar and NPR cards, the minister instructed the officials concerned to sensitize the people on the issue.
Giving information regarding monsoon related casualties, Additional DC Dayanand said a total of 17 persons have lost their lives due to lightning, drowning and such other tragedies during heavy rains. He also informed that 595 houses have damaged during heavy rains.
On this occasion JR Lobo and BA Mohideen Bava, Mangalore South and North MLAs sought additional grants from the government for providing of compensation to the affected people.
Deputy Commissioner N Prakash, ZP CEO KN Vijayaprakash,ZP Chief Koragappa Naika, SP Abhishek Goel, Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar, MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde and other officials were present at the meeting.
