Mangaluru: Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation D V Sadananda Gowda slamming District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai for repeated untoward incidents in Dakshina Kannda and clamping Section 144 for nearly 45 days in the district, said Rai was directly responsible for the untoward incidents in the district. After his provocation such incidents occurred, DVS alleged.
“For more than 45 days prohibitory orders are clamped in the entire district. Dakshina Kannada has become a hub of bad news in the entire state and nation. This is because of the egoistic attitude of the administrators in the district. There were untoward incidents in only two taluks that is at Ullal and Bantwal but the administration has clamped the section in the entire district including taluks like Sullia, Puttur, Belthangady for no reason. Except Ullal and Bantwal, nowhere in the other places of the district, violence has taken place. Just because of appeasement of a community by state ministers U T Khader and Ramanath Rai this is happening. The police who took unbiased actions in the issue have been transferred”, he said.
Terming Ramanath Rai as the most depressing minister in the state, Gowda said, “Rai has challenged me to contest the elections against him. With the blessings of my party, I have contested from Mangaluru, Kodagu, Puttur, Chikkamagaluru and Bengaluru and people have voted me. I will take this as a challenge. I will make a booth level party worker to contest against him and win the Bantwal constituency.”
He also said that Ramanath Rai should brief when did Sharath breath his last and when it was it declared. “Why Ramanath Rai is doing politics in a death?”, he questioned.
“Cases have been filed against those who joined the procession of Sharath’s funeral for no reasons. This was done to curb the voice of Hindu leaders and gain political mileage.
I have asked the Deputy Commissioner to withdraw Section 144 from the Sullia, Puttur and Belthangady taluks. Atleast for courtesy sake, Ramanath Rai has not visited Sharath’s father to console him. Police department has failed to nab the culprits in Sharath’s murder. Instead case is being registered against Hindu leaders.
I have already taken the report from the district administration and it will be brought to the notice of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. I will also raise this issue in the cabinet meeting”, DVS said.
BJP President Sanjeeva Matandoor, MLA Sunil Kumar, Captain Ganesh Karnik, MLA Angara and others were present.
