Mangaluru: Mangalore City Police and Dakshina Kannada District Police observed Crime Prevention month here at the newly opened Police Community Hall on Monday December 1.

Speaking after the inauguration, district-in charge minister B. Ramanath Rai said that it was the responsibility of the citizens to co-operate with the police to control crimes. Awareness on crime also reduces the crime”, he said.
He also pointed out that the advancement of technology indirectly helped in the rise in the rate of crimes. There are a number of crimes taking place that are preventable, he said.
Amrit Paul, IGP (Western Range) said it was an equal challenge for the police to prevent and detect crimes. “Police Commissioner and Superintendent of Police should form special teams to investigate crimes, instead of dragging each case”, he said.
Mangaluru City Police Commissioner R. Hitendra said that the atrocities on women and children are increasing. He sought the support of public in reducing crimes.
Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim, Public Prosecutor MV Bhat Panne and Dr SP Sharanappa also spoke.
