Mangaluru: The stretch from Bunts Hostel to Jyothi (Dr Ambedkar circle) that is one of the prominent roads of the city was opened for traffic on Monday February 23.

The road was closed since the first week of November 2014 for concreting, and after a rigors three-month development works the road was made open for public.
Inaugurating the newly-concreted road district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai said, “Around Rs 100 crore grants for development works was used for the road, and the speedy and efficient work has paid the results.
He also mentioned that the work on the vented dam had halted because of lack of funds, but now since the funds have been released, the work will resume soon.
He thanked Mayor Mahabala Maarla, MLA J R Lobo for the work, MCC commissioner and engineers for completing the work on time. “Work on the streetlights, signboards, footpaths and other facilities will be completed very soon, he added.
Corporator A C Vinayraj informed that the project cost was Rs 2.14 crore but the work was completed at Rs 1.96 crore. The pending works will be completed at the earliest, he added.
MCC commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, deputy mayor Kavita, Asha D’Silva, Sabitha Misquith, Praveen Chandra Alva, and others were present.
