Uppinangady : A private bus  heading towards Kundapur from Bangalore overturned at Perne near here in the early hours of Monday June 9  leaving  a child dead and 17 others injured.

The deceased child is one year old Manikanta, son of Nityananda, a businessman of Neelavara in Udupi.

The private bus ‘Durgamba’ overturned after the driver lost control over the vehicle. It is said the bus was over speeding even as it was raining heavily during the early hours. The child died on the spot.

The injured have been admitted to hospitals in Puttur and Mangalore. Uppinangady police have registered a case.
