Puttur: A retired mathematics teacher, Suryanarayan Karanth (80), died after being hit by an auto rickshaw in Sampya, Puttur on Thursday.
Suryanarayan Karanth, a resident of Marike, was crossing the road in Sampya when an auto rickshaw carrying a pregnant woman to the Puttur Government Hospital for her monthly checkup hit him. The impact of the collision caused Karant to fall to the ground and suffer a severe head injury. He was rushed to the Puttur Government Hospital in another rickshaw and then transferred to the First Neuro Hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment. He succumbed to his injuries at the First Neuro Hospital.
