Puttur: The DC of Dakshina Kannada district has issued notice to the Chief Officer of Puttur City Municipal Council for using the National Emblem, which is the logo of the central government, on the CMC letter head.

The Puttur Town Municipal Council was upgraded into CMC recently. But, Chief Officer Rekha J Shetty has been using the central government logo, on the CMC letter head, without informing the proper rules pertaining to the same to the CMC elected representatives.

The DC has warned of filing a criminal case against the Chief Officer and also ordering a departmental probe for doing so. The notice states that though the local governing bodies can pass resolution and decide on a logo for themselves, but no governing body can use the logo of central government.

Further, a CMC member has also complained to the DC that the Chief Officer has been signing as Municipal Commissioner, while the fact is that she has not been promoted as Municipal Commissioner.
