Protestors opposing bus fare hike in M’luru demand transport authority meet

Mangaluru: A protest march was held here at the city’s Clock Tower, led by a consortium of secular parties and like-minded organizations in the DK district against a hike in the private bus fare. The protestors demanded a transport authority meeting.

Speaking on this occasion here on Thursday August 19 CPIM  District Secretary of Dakshina Kannada Vasantha Acharya said, bus fares have risen dramatically. Amid the pandemic, many people have lost their jobs and common people are unable to afford the increase in travel rate.

Congress district spokesman Abhishek Ullal said that the district administration is working as the agent of the bus owners, instead of fixing the bus fare after considering the plea of ??the bus operators and the public the district administration is allowing them to rob the people, he added.

CPIM leader Sitharam Berinja, Sunil Kumar Bajal were present.
