Mangalore : Dakshina Kannada District Superintendent of Police Abhishek Goyal has said that the progress of developmental works in Naxal affected areas of the district was unsatisfactory.
He was speaking after participating in a grievance redressal meet held at his office on June 16, Sunday. The SP further said even the DC was not happy with the progress of the works. Pointing out that funds for the progress of Naxal hit areas were sanctioned through the police department, the SP said only 50 per cent of the works in Naxal hit areas are complete in Belthangady. Developmental works worth Rs 5 crores mainly including improvement in basic infrastructural facilities, are to be undertaken here, the SP said.
Goyal further informed that henceforth all police stations in the district will be conducting public grievance redressal meets on third Sunday of every month and that the respective SIs will have to mandatorily attend the meetings.
The SP also mentioned about a proposal sent to the government to induct tribal youth as Home Guards in order to enhance their experience as well as give job opportunities to them.
