Kasargod: The roads in Kasargod district wore a deserted look due to absence of private buses, which remained off road responding to a bundh call given by private bus owners to fulfill their demand to hike bus fare, on Tuesday.

The Association has warned the government of staging indefinite stir from February 2 in case their demands are not met.

The public in general and students in specific felt the pinch of the bundh as they were forced to take private vehicles shelling out excess amount to reach their destinations.

The commuters taking routes that have KSRTC buses did not suffer much when compared to the rural commuters.

The owners of the private buses had demanded non-cancellation of bus licence, hike in concession to students and bus fare, slash in the insurance premium, road tax and diesel cess and rolling back of the fees that have been hiked in transport office.
