Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP has declared that individuals no longer need to obtain advance approval for private events, a mandatory requirement during elections as per the model code of conduct. Previously, under the model code of conduct, obtaining prior permissions for all programs, including private functions, was obligatory through the single-window system.
Changes in Approval Process
During a meeting with poll officials on Monday, the DC announced the elimination of the prior permission requirement for private functions. Henceforth, individuals are not obliged to seek prior permissions for such events.
Continuation of Enforcement Measures
While the prior approval requirement for private events has been lifted, certain components of the model code of conduct will remain in effect. Interstate checkpoints established at Eshwaramangala in Sullia, Talapady, and Anekal in Bantwal will continue to operate. Furthermore, flying squad teams in assembly constituencies will persist in their monitoring efforts to prevent electoral malpractices.
Meeting Participants
The meeting, where this decision was communicated, was attended by ZP CEO and district nodal officer for model code conduct, Anandh K, along with other relevant officials.
This decision represents a significant shift in administrative policy following the conclusion of elections, aiming to streamline event planning processes while maintaining essential enforcement measures for public safety and electoral integrity.
