
Mangaluru: Mangaluru Chapter of Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) was inaugurated at Lions Seva Mandir, Mallikatta on Sunday, February 3.
Chief Mentor of PRCI and former director of Karnataka Power Corporation M B Jayaram administered the oath to the office-bearers of PRCI, Mangaluru Chapter. Pashupathi Sharma took oath as Chairman, Roshin Bobby as secretary, Jagajeevan Das as joint secretary, N V Paulose and Dr. Abubakkar Siddique as vice-presidents and Marian D’Souza took oath as the treasurer of PRCI. Meanwhile, S M Shiva Prakash, Venu Sharma, Prince Pinto, Shiva Shankar Moorthy, Dr. Shivakumar Magada, Canute J Pinto, Dr. Gayathri B J and Annapoorna Sharma took oath as the executive committee members.
Dakshina Kannada district Superintendent of Police B M Lakshmi Prasad, after inaugurating Mangaluru Chapter of PRCI said, ” The organization provides a forum where creative minds often come together, upholding the challenges and values of professionalism in public relations. It is very common that, in each and every field there are merits and demerits. Everyone commits mistakes knowingly or unknowingly. However, mistakes should be rectified and positive things should be highlighted. If there is a public relation officer in an institution, positive things of that particular institution comes out “, he said.
M B Jayaram, after administering the oath to the office- bearers of PRCI said, in order to strengthen public relations, there should be proper communication skills and good command over the language. As Bengaluru chapter of PRCI has a monthly magazine ‘Vaagmi’, Mangaluru chapter also should come out with a magazine to highlight its activities”, he said.
Pashupathi Sharma, after assuming the charge as the chairman of PRCI (Mangaluru Chapter) informed that his team has already decided to organise programmes to create awareness among the youth about the importance of public relations and ill effects of social media. “A programme will be shortly organised in order to educate youth about the ill-effects of circulating bad and insensitive messages on social media”, he added.
While delivering the introductory address, PRCI director Geetha Shankar said, PRCI is a non-political organisation of professionals in the field of public relations, communications, advertising, education and many other allied services. The PRCI also has a separate cell for social action to look at developmental and social issues, she added.
Meanwhile, N V Paulose was felicitated with the award ‘Best Communicator of the Year’ on the same occasion.
PRCI zonal chairman (South) Jayaprakash Rao welcomed the gathering. Export Council Southern Region former chairman Walter, D’Souza, PRCI governing council chairman B N Kumar among others were present.
