
Mangaluru: Former corporator Prakash B. Salian, who was elected as the president of the city Block Congress, took his office on Saturday, April 3 at the mini auditorium of the Kudmul Rangarao Purabhavan.
Former MLA JR Lobo and senior Congress leader Suresh Ballal, former president of MUDA declared him as the city block Congress president by handing him over the party flag.
Prakash B Salian pledged to reinforce the ‘congress’ in the city. Speaking on this occasion he said, “In the name of Lokayya Shetty, the circle has been constructed without the grants of MCC. Vivekananda’s Park was established in Bijai during my tenure. The South block has now unanimously elected me as the president of the South Block internal election. I have consulted with senior leaders to manage responsibilities effectively.”
He requested all to cooperate with him to work efficiently.
The senior Congress leader, Suresh Ballal, former president of MUDA, said that Prakash Salian had done well when he was a corporator and was expected to win by a margin of votes in the last MCC polls. However, now he is the new congress municipal president.
Former legislator JR Lobo also spoke on this occasion.
