Bantwal: In a bizarre incident, a youth from Karai in the Kolnadu village was attacked by a porcupine (quill pig) while he was riding a motorcycle on Tuesday, June 9 night.

The victim has been identified as Shafeeq.

According to sources, the incident occurred when Shafeeq was on his way from Salethur to Karai on a motorcycle along with his friend. When they reached near Karai, a porcupine appeared before the motorcycle and attacked them with its sharp quills, which pierced Shafeeq’s leg.

The man was rushed to a private hospital in the city, where he is recuperating.

It is very rare for porcupines to attack humans in this manner, therefore, images of Shafeeq’s pierced leg are circulating on social media.
