Udupi: Senior Congress leader Janaradhan Poojary  has opposed the interference of the government in the internal affairs of religious institutions.

Speaking to the media persons here on January 28, Tuesday  he said that it is not proper to suspect the motives of religious organizations who engage themselves in charitable activities.  Though the High Court has directed to look into the affairs of mutts, he demanded that the government should appeal to the Supreme Court against the same.

He added that the CM should come out with a clarification over the issue in the assembly session. If not, at least he must announce his decision immediately after the assembly session., Poojri observed.

Siddhaganga Mutt and Adichunchanagiri Mutt are known for educating children by providing free food and clothing, he said adding  the Congress High command will not support state government decision.

Lauding the system followed by Rahul Gandhi to adopt decentralization process in choosing the candidates for the forthcoming Lok Saba polls, Poojary said it is one of the outstanding measures.

It is heartening to observe that the voice of the Congress workers at grass root level is being respected. They too will have their say in choosing the candidate, Poojari said.
