Mangaluru: Senior Congressman B Janardhan Poojary on Monday January 25, visited the residence of the Dalit college principal who committed suicide allegedly due to harassment from the college authority and offered condolences.

Poojary demanded thorough probe into the case and sought stern action against the guilty.

Sudesh, hailing from Hosbettu here, was appointed as the Principal of Rani Chennamma in Madikeri. However, the upper caste college management did not him to be a part of the college as he belonged to backward class. Sudesh is also learned to have obstructed the management from indulging in wrongdoings. Miffed with this, the management allegedly started harassing him.
Pained with this, Sudesh committed suicide at a lodge in Bejai on January 21.

A case has been registered against the management under assault on Dalits Act at Urwa police station.
