Mangaluru: Former Union Minister B. Janaradhan Poojary on Friday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for being silent on important issues. “The BJP was after Manmohan Singh for his silence. But, why is Modi silent now?, he told the reporters.

Mr. Poojary said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received huge mandate for their promise of development. But, the party members are having different plans now. The remarks of Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti in the parliament, Sakshi Maharaj calling Mahatma Gandhi’s killer Nathuram Godse a ‘patriot’, the comment on Bhagavad Gita, Taj Mahal and recent statement of Subramanian Swamy, where he calls former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Dr Farooq Abdullah’s ancestors Brahmins is unexpected of them”, he said criticizing the ideology of RSS.

“Poor, innocents are misled”

Commenting on the Ulaibettu clash, the former minister said that only the poor and innocents are misled by leaders, by provoking them with hate speeches. “The children of those leaders are rank holders. The innocents and the poor are made to go to the street and fight, risking their lives. Among the arrested Hindus, there are no Brahmins or Jains but only people belonging to the backward community, he added.

On Vishwa Tuluvera Parba, he said that the festival has been limited to a section of the Tulu community. The organisers have not taken everyone together.
