Mangaluru: Launching a scathing attack on Minister for rural Development and Panchayat Raj H K Patil for his statement that there is no drought, it is just excess summer, senior Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary, on Saturday, April 30 demanded resignation from the prior.
Claiming that such a senseless statement will only damage the Congress party further, Poojary said that Patil must be shown the door.

“Patil is aspiring to become the chief Minister of the state and it is unbecoming of someone nurturing such aspirations to talk so lightly of the grave issue,” he said adding that when is not able to combat his own mistake he is blaming the media for misquoting him.

“Being the Minister for Rural Development, he has not toured the drought-hit regions of the state like our CM,” Poojary said.

Speaking about the KPCC Chief’s position, which will fall vacant soon, Poojary said that ultimately the decision is left to the Congress high command, but he would personally vouch for seven-time MP K H Muniyappa.

Commenting on Yetthinahole project he said that, he won’t support any bandh because it affects the economy of the country and it also stands in violation of the Supreme Court order.

Replying to a media query on Augusta scam, Poojary said that Subramanian Swamy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are trying to defame the Nehru family.

“Subramanian Swamy was a follower of the Nehru family. After the BJP government came to power in the centre, he is trying to defame the Nehru family, just for the sake of becoming a cabinet minister,” he said.

“As soon as allegations against the Augusta contract started from the opposition, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh cancelled the contract. If the Congress party wanted to mint some money out of it, then why will they cancel the contract,” he questioned.

He further said that, to hide the weaknesses of the BJP government, they are trying to defame the Nehru family. The Central government is trying to politicise education also. Smriti Irani interfering in the JNU issue is one such example.

He continued saying that, Modi has not fulfilled the promises made during the elections. In 2019 general elections, the public will give a befitting reply to the BJP.
