Mangaluru: The state government should announce financial aid of Rs 15 crore to develop the Ullal Darga as a tourism centre, said veteran senior congress leader B Janardhan Poojary.

Speaking at a press meet, Poojary appealed to Chief minister Siddaramaiah and tourism minister R V Deshpande to make Mangaluru city a tourist spot.

The Sayyed Madani Darga of Ullal can become the Ajmer Sharief of the south and it is promoting socio-economic and religious programmes in the city.

Poojary priased Rahul Gandhi for his aggressive stand against NDA’s proposed anti-farmer Land Bill. The very same media which questioned Rahul’s leadership, is now praising him, he said. The Land Bill which was introduced by previous UPA government was pro-farmer. But the present government which is in favour of corporates is playing with the life of farmers, he stressed.

He also urged Chief minister and minister for tourism R V Deshpande to make Mangaluru a tourist centre as people from various parts of the country as well as world visit the coastal city.

Chief minister Siddaramaiah will be visiting Mangaluru Today to lay foundation stone for Congress Bhavan and also visit Ullal Darga on the occasion of Uroos.
