Kasaragod: In a fresh political violence reported at Kerala’s Kannur, a CPM activist and a BJP worker was hacked to death on Monday night.

CPM leader Dhanaraj and BJP supporter CK Ramachandran are the victims.
Dhanaraj was killed by attackers who came in three bikes. The attackers hacked him to death at around 10:30 pm when he was just about to enter his house in Payyannur. The CPM has alleged that BJP supporters are behind the murder.
An hour later, CK Ramachandran, an auto-rickshaw driver was murdered in the same area by a six-member gang.
The police have termed it as a retaliatory killing. They also informed that the attackers had been identified.
With over 1000 cases of poll-related violence across the state, political killings peaked in Kannur and other parts of Kerala in the run-up to the state election in May. As many as 30 people from various political parties have been killed in Kerala between 2011 and 2016.
As usual, a strike has been called for in Kannur. Homes of CPM and BJP supporters have been attacked. Clashes have also been reported.
