Mangaluru: Based on the admission of four accused in the killing of Abdul Basheer , police are searching the Nethravathi river bed for weapons employed in the murder.
The City Crime Branch team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Valentine D’Souza with help from expert divers is trying to extract machetes and other weapons used by the accused. Once retrieved, the same can be used as concrete evidence to nail the accused during trial in the court.
The accused named P K Srijith, Dhanush Poojary, Kishan Poojary and Sandesh Kotian in police custody, had admitted to throwing the weapons from atop the bridge into Nethravathi River on NH 66 after killng Abdul Bashir.
Abdul Bashir was hacked to death by four assailants near Kottara Chowki on the January 3 evening to avenge the murder of Deepak Rao, a right wing activist.
