Mangaluru: The Mangaluru Rural police, in association with the Anti-Rowdy Squad police have seized three lorries illegally transporting sand on Friday, December 21.

The cost of the sand that was being illegally transported and lorries are estimated to be around Rs 25.15 lakh. After they were tipped off about the illegal transportation of sand, a team Mangaluru Rural police and the Anti-Rowdy Squad found three sand-laden lorries plying from Ulaibettu to the Parari junction. When the police waylaid the lorries, they found that drivers did not have the proper license to transport sand.

The lorries have been handed over to the department of Mines and Geology for further investigation, police sources said.
