Police nabs absconding rowdy Nagaraj in Goa

Udupi:Noted criminal Nagaraj Belegar alias Satish, who had been absconding for more than a month has been caught by the Goa Police along with his wife Lakshmi.

It is learnt that Nagraj had escaped from the clutches Kerala police, while being brought to Udupi court on August 28. He was being brought to Udupi court from Trishur for a hearing in a case in which he is the accused. At Indrali railway station, he called his wife by borrowing a mobile phone from a policeman and asked her to come there. Later, the policemen and the accused couple took two rooms in a lodge, and from there he managed to escape with his wife.

Meanwhile the Kerala police had given a complaint in Manipal police stating that he had pushed them away and escaped. It was later after investigation; the true story of the escape came into picture.

As per information received by Udupi police, Nagajar and his wife had been hiding in Goa. A team led by Udupi DySP went to Goa and began a hunt for him. Meanwhile, the couple had already been caught by Calangute police for a theft.

He has over 25 murders, theft and others case registered against him and has a past history of escaping three times from the clutches of police.
