Mangaluru: The sleuths from Bunder police station have decided to hold a meeting of the bus owners association and the bus driver’s union on Wednesday, after the latter continued its protest for the fifth consecutive day.
On Friday, the bus drivers association had refused to join the duty, after one of their colleague Vijay Kumar of Anand Travels was thrashed by the agent in the middle of the road for forcing-in extra passengers.

Subsequently, the bus drivers in association with the CITU, stagedseveral demonstrations till date. Vasanth Acharya, leader of CITU who led the protest on Tuesday sought protection for the bus drivers.
As of now, the bus drivers are paid meager salary of Rs 1550 for three days of duty, which is is not enough. It should be doubled, he added. Besides, the bus owners should also reimburse the expenses of treatment for Vijay Kumar, he added.
Hence, the police have decided to hold a meeting of all the stake holders on Wednesday, seeking a solution to the going-on protest.
