Police investigate theft at Milagres Church; 1.2 lakh stolen

Mangalore : Thieves have not spared even a church. The Milagres church office, was burgled  here on Thursday night July 23. The robber is said to have fled with Rs 1, 20,000 which was kept in the cash box of the church office.

As the per the CCTV footage, around 10.30 pm an unidentified man entered the church from the rear gate. He then turned the CCTV camera to the opposite direction and walked inside the office to steal and decamp.

There was only one watchman when the incident took place, but he was placed at the front gate due to which, he did not realize that a theft was taking place.

Speaking to Newskarnataka, the church office members said that usually such a big amount is not kept in the church office but as the money had to be deposited in the bank the next morning the amount was kept along with the key which was in the drawer itself. The money was income from Hall rent.

The Pandeshwar police along with the finger print expert arrived on the spot. They have registered a complaint and are investigating.
