Mangaluru: After a video of an aspiring actor, alleging that she and her Muslim male friend were harassed by cops, went viral, Dakshina Kannada SP Sudhir Kumar Reddy has assured that disciplinary action would be taken against the police officers of the Subramanya police station, who have been accused.
The SP said that the girl was found in the company of the boy near the Subramanya temple, on December 20. Some of the locals had found the girl’s behaviour suspicious and complained to the local police. The girl was later found moving around alone, late at night, after which she was taken to the local police station where it was found that she had left her home without her parents knowledge. It was also found out that the girl’s parents had filed a missing persons complaint with the police.
The male companion was called to the police station, on December 21, after which the alleged harassment took place. The girl alleged that they were beaten and threatened by the Subramanya police before. The girl was sent home with her parents and the boy was sent home with his uncle.
The SP has said that as the couple were misbehaved with, disciplinary action would be taken against the constable, head constable and the officer in-charge of the Subramanya police station.
