Mangaluru: In the latest development in the case connected to miscreants resorting to floating derogatory messages against Hindu deity over social networking sites, the police have got some leads about the prime accused.
A Facebook post of Jabbar B C Road contained objectionable material on Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari and following the incident a suo motu case under IPC section 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) was filed. It is gathered that police have now arrested a person who revealed information about the incident.
The person arrested belongs from Chikkamagaluru. He is said to have revealed to police that it was a group living abroad who are behind this heinous crime.
As many as 15 persons who hail from Dakshina Kannada and nearby districts, currently working in Gulf countries work together, to post items hurting others’ religious sentiments. It is said that they work as a team of 3-4 members, open fake Facebook accounts, post derogatory remarks and then delete the account. It is also said that they were in constant touch using Whatsapp group to exchange information.
The city police commissioner led team is working hard to trap the culprits. As the people behind the incident are working abroad, the State government will have to take it up with the Union government.
