Mangalore : As many as 61 police personnel who retired from service in the year 2012-13 were honoured on the occasion of Police Flag Day which was observed at the Police Grounds here on April 2, Tuesday. The function was held under the joint aegis of the Mangalore Police Commissionerate, Dakshina Kannada District Police and KSRP.












The Police Flags were released on the occasion by chief guest Vishwanath Pundith, former DySP. The flags were sold to members and the amount collected will be used for the welfare of police men.
In his address, Pundith exhorted police men to have a good knowledge of the laws as it will come handy while discharging their duties.
IGP Western Range, Prathap Reddy, who presided over the function, had a word of praise for the dedicated service of the eight police officials of the district who were conferred with the Chief Minister’s Medal.
Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar, KSRP Commandant Ramdas Gowda, several police officials and personnel were present on the occasion.
