Mangalore: Two persons have been arrested by the Urva police on October 6th, in connection with the murder of Mescom engineer late night on September 21.

The accused have been identified as Siddappa (22) alias Siddu, resident of Ilangovan Koppa, Saundatti taluk, Belgaum and Rafiq (27), resident of Sayed Fir Street, Nittoli, Davanagere.
Addressing a press meet, the Police commissioner R Hitendra, said that along with arrest, a gold chain, revolver, 16 rounds of ammunition, and Rs 5000 has been seized. He also said that part of the gold which was kept in various financial organizations, will be soon seized and taken into custody.
The commissioner also said that the duo have been booked in various similar cases. Complaints have been registered against them in Barke, Urva and Kadri police station limits. They were also involved in the murder of an old lady at Alake on August 1, it is said.
Prompt action of police prevents loot
Five people were arrested under the directives of the Mangalore Kadri police inspector T D Nagaraj along with PSI Rafiq and H S Bajantri near National Highway Maroli Jodukatte at around 3:30 am on October 6 when they were planning a burglary in the area.
The accused have been identified as Mohammad Azim alias Dilwale (23), resident of Farangipete, Pudu village, Ahmed Sadik (19) alias Sadik, resident of Katipalla, Nisar Hussain (23) Katipalla, Hasanabba alias Naushad (23) and Y Shashidhar (30), resident of Tgase Kundapur.
R Hitendra said that they have also seized an Alto, a Ritz, lethal weapons, two chilly powder packets, four mobile phones and Rs 12,750 in cash.
The police received information that two cars were parked on the highway, and prompt action by the police led the arrest of the group.
According to the police the group rented cars with lethal weapons in it and looted lorry drivers and conductors who used to park their vehicles on the roadside by threatening and hurting them. They also used to stand on the National Highway and attacked vehicles that belonged to out of state.
