Mangalore: Mangalore police busted a gang of notorious chain snatchers involved in as many as 12 cases of snatching gold and silver chains in and around the city.
On September 24 at around 5 p.m. two motorbike-borne miscreants had snatched a gold chain from the neck of a woman who was returning home after finishing work at Baikampady Industrial area. A case was registered in this regard with the Panambur police station.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Mangalore City Police Commissioner R Hithendra said three chain snatchers were arrested by sleuths of Panambur Police Station.
The Commissioner gave the names of arrested as Zaikr Hussain (23), a native of Thane in Mumbai, Mohammed Rizwan (23), a resident of Bajal-Pakkaladka in Mangalore and Irshad (28), a resident of Permannur-Chembugudde near Mangalore.
The police had formed a team to nab the culprits involved in this case. Acting on a tip off, they managed to arrest three persons. Three motorbikes and gold chains worth several lakh rupees were recovered from them.
During interrogation the arrested revealed that they had involved in at least 12 cases in and around Mangalore, said Hithendra.
