Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district unit of BJP organised a programme to live telecast the 48th edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s `Mann Ki Baat` radio programme at T V Raman Pai Hall on Sunday, September 30, in which hundreds of people participated.

Though it was said that Modi will interact with the people of Mangaluru, during his `Mann Ki Baat` programme at New Delhi, no such opportunity was available to the people of Mangaluru. Hence, those who came with questions were left disappointed. During his 15 minutes address to the nation, Modi asked the people, irrespective of region, caste, religion, sect or language, to show solidarity with the soldiers.
Speaking about the Air Force Day, which will be celebrated on October 8, the Prime Minister said, the Indian Air Force is one of the mightiest and bravest air force of the 21st century. He mentioned about the role played by the Air Force during 1947, 1965, 1971 and 1999.

Modi also spoke about `Swachh Bharat Mission` and claimed that it has become a success story not only in India but in the whole world. Remembering Gandhiji’s mantra, Modi said a small step of people can surely bring about a very big difference in the life of the poorest and the most underprivileged.
The Prime Minister called upon people to purchase Khadi and handloom products on special occasions, which will benefit many weavers. Remembering Lal Bahadur Shastri, Modi said, the very name Shastri evokes a feeling of eternal faith in our hearts, and his mild personality always fills every Indian with a sense of pride.

During the programme, a person who introduced himself as a visually impaired from Rajasthan lauded the concept of `Swaccha Bharat` and informed that the whole nation has supported the cleanliness drive. Later, Modi thanked him and asked everyone to be the part of Swaccha Bharat programme.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Dr Y Bharath Shetty, Umanath Kotian, former MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik among others were present.
