Mangaluru: Dr Shivarama Karantha Pilikula Nisarga Dhama will be organizing ‘Mango Mela’ and ‘Pilikula Vasanthothsava’ in collaboration with the Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation at Pilikula Nisarga Dhama on May 21 and 22.

Further, on May 22, International Biodiversity Day and ‘Hasiru Ale’ will be organised.
Executive Director of Pilikula Nisarga Dhama S A Prabhakar Sharma informed that, five to six tons of mangoes of different varieties like Alphonso, Mallika, Rathnagiri have been collected and will be kept for public display and sale. Alongside, several varieties of jack fruits too will be kept for sale.
Dr Chandrashekhar Chowta a progressive farmer said, “Lot of varieties of mangoes have failed to get their dues and programmes like this help in popularizing such varieties.”
Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim said that, farmers from Mulabagilu, Chennapattana and from other part of Karnataka will be attending the mela. “This expo will be an exposure for local farmers also. This should be a regular feature of Pilikula,” he said.
There are plans to organize Organic Fertilizer Mela at Kadri Park on May 31 to educate farmers about the advantages of using organic fertilizer.
