Pilikula has new residents including two Asiatic Lions!

Mangaluru: The majestic Asiatic Lions are going to be cynosure at the Pilikula Biological Park as under the animal exchange programme an eight-year-old male lion and seven-year-old female lion have been brought from Sakkarbaugh Zoo, Gujarat to Pilikula.

Along with the lions, two pairs of white peafowls, two pairs of alexandrine parakeets,  two pairs of spoonbill, white ibis and a pair of lady amherst’s pheasant too have been brought from the same zoo in lieu of two king cobras, two mouse deers, turtles and other varieties of snakes.

Asiatic lions, which were once common all over Asia are now under extinction and could be found in Gir in Gujarat.

With the arrival of two more lions the Pilikula park now has five lions now. Earlier it had three lions, one aged 10 years and the other aged four years each which were born in captivity in the park.
