Mangaluru: Popular Front of India (PFI) has decided to register a complaint against pro-Hindu activists Praveen Togadia and Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, for delivering inflammatory and hate speeches at a ‘Virat Hindu Sangam’, which was organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) here in Puttur recently.

It can be recalled that over 20 persons were injured and lakhs of property was damaged by miscreants in several pockets of Dakshina Kannada, minutes after the convention, which was witnessed by over 30,000 pro-Hindu activists.

PFI district president A.M. Attavulla on Monday said that the convention was deliberately held to trigger communal violence in the district. The police must take up a suo moto action against the organizers and those who delivered hate speeches. If not, we will register a complaint against them (organisers), he stressed.

He held the organizers of the Hindu convention responsible for the communal clash, which erupted in various parts of the district, especially in Uppinangady. The speeches of Praveen Togadia and Prabhakar Bhat were provocative. They advocated the principle of violence. As a result, violence broke out, minutes after the convention was over.

“Nearly 200 miscreants allegedly belonging to the pro-Hindu activists barged in the Masjid at Karaya in the Uppinangady police limits and destroyed it”, he said. Besides, they had stored stones in their vehicles to create communal tension by stone pelting on our religious centres, he added.

Mr. Attavulla later told newskarnataka.com that the PFI would file a complaint against the organizers for hate speeches against the non-Hindu communities.

District SP Dr. Sharanappa said that they have not received any complaints against the organisers. “We will verify the complaint and act on it”, he said.
