PFI accuses Sangh Parivar of trying to incite communal tension

Mangalore: The Popular Front of India organized a protest in front of DC office  against the derogatory and provoking speech made during the Hindu Sangama in Gurupur recently.

Eliyas Mohammed, the Secretary of Popular Front of India (PFI) while  addressing the protestors alleged that District Minister Ramanatha Rai who, prior to the elections,  had promised to put Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat in  jail, has forgotten his promise.

Continuing, he said even U T Khadar had given assurances but they just do not have the nerve to arrest Prabhakar Bhat. Moreover he also accused the Sangh Parivar of trying to spark communal tension and said that  the police also are in support of this. He  alleged that Prabhakar Bhat, Jagadish Shenava, Chakravarthi Sulibele and others were trying to flare up  communal violence.

He also criticized the police department for inviting Prabhakar Bhat as a guest for the inauguration of Police Commissionerate’s new building a couple of years ago.

Other leaders also spoke on the occasion and lambasted Bhat for passing provocative statements against the Muslim community.

A M Athaullah, District President of  PFI, Anwar Sadath, state committee member, SDPI, Abdul Razak, state  Vice President of  PFI, Hameed Kandak, Vice President of  Muslim Central Committee, Shafi Bellare, President of  PFI Puttur Division, Anand Mitthabail, Convenor, Dalit Sangarsha Samithi, Aboobakkar Kulai, President, SDPI, Rafiuddin Kudroli, President, UNIVEF and others were present on the occasion.
