Puttur: Sometimes, the most dangerous person to a child can be his or her own parents. Such a trial came over a six-year-old girl, Faheema who was being abused for several years by her mother and step father.

Faheema, has been admitted in a serious condition to a private hospital here after being tortured allegedly by his mother and stepfather.

The alleged are identified as Fouzia, her mother and Shafi her stepfather who are in judicial custody. The girl had wounds all over her body, including burns of cigarette and marks of knife.

The shocking incident came to light when one of the neighbours came to know about the girl’s plight and informed the activists of SDPI and PFI who filed complaint at Belthangady police station before admitting the girl to a government hospital.

Fouzia had earlier married Farooq who deserted her after the birth of Faheema. Later, Fouzia married Shafi.
