Mangalore: More than two thousand people participated in the protest march that concluded at the DC office on Tuesday November 26 urging the government to hand over the others cases in Dharmasthala including Vedavalli, Mrs. Harale and Padmalatha.

The two separate marches, one from Sowjanya’s house at Pangala and another from Sullia amalgamated at Pumpwell circle which later on marched till the DC office.

Addressing the protestors the central committee member of CPI Vasudeva Acharya said, “There is an independent government working in Dharmasthala. It does not obey the rules of the land and indulged barbaric and uncivilized activities.”

He further questioned, do we have to tolerate the atrocities?

With regards to the other political parties that have kept themselves absent from the case and have no relevance on the injustice rendered to Sowjanya he said, “The National parties think about the common man only when there are elections. Forget about supporting the fight for the justice, they are afraid even to utter a word in public. The political parties have to specify their stand in this regard.”

Another central committee member and a national leader of Janavadi Mahila Vedike R Vasuki said, “Even though the name of the place is Dharmasthala, Dharma (Justice) is not practiced there. Instead of empowering women and the poor, the criminals are empowered.”

Sowjanya’s parents Kusumavathi and Chandappa Gowda, CPI leaders RK Shriyan and others were present at the occasion.
