Puttur: The Legislative Standing Committee on Women and Child Welfare, headed by Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty has recommended to the government to ban students from using mobile phones in all colleges in the state.
“Students should be strictly prohibited from bringing mobile phones to schools and colleges. The education department should notify the government in this regard,” the report said.
The committee while expressing its concern over the rising cases of missing of young women in Dakshina Kannada has demanded a thorough investigation into the same.
In a report submitted to the government, the Committee has also urged for steps to see that police did not use abusive language against women approaching stations. CC Cameras should also be installed in police stations to ensure transparency in their functioning, the report said.
