Padma Shri awardee Sukri Bommagowda to visit city on Sept 3

Mangaluru: Padma Shri awardee and veteran folk artiste Sukri Bommagowda will visit Mangaluru city to inaugurate the valedictory programme of ‘Vruksha Suraksha’, a programme scheduled to be held at the Mini Hall of the Town Hall on Tuesday, September 3 at around 2 PM. 

‘Vruksha Suraksha’ is being organised by the South Kanara Photographers Association (SKPA) with the intention of creating awareness among the students about the need to conserve nature.

In order to encourage students to plant saplings in their school premises, the SKPA has approached several schools in the Dakshina Kannada district over the past three years and disbursed saplings to the students. They have been visiting schools in the district to check on the saplings planted by the students. The school that has maintained the saplings the best will be awarded during the valedictory programme of the ‘Vruksha Suraksha’ on Tuesday.

As per the event schedule, Sukri Bommagowda will inaugurate the valedictory programme and address the students. She will also present the winners of the drawing, essay and quiz competitions with prizes, informed the SKPA.
