Over 200 companies to take part in Udyoga Mela: Rai

Mangaluru: The District Administration will be organizing ‘Mangaluru Udyoga Mela – 2015’, a job fair, on 19 and 20 November at Canara Engineering College, Benjanapadav here.

Dakshina Kannada district In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai, who is also the Chairman of the job fair said that two rounds of meetings have already been held in this regard with senior officials from various departments including IT and service industry and CEOs and HRs of over 100 companies respectively. He expressed hope that over 200 companies would turn up to pick job aspirants for both skilled and unskilled sectors. Recruiters from Dubai will also be present during the job fair, he said.

Rai informed that a precursor orientation meet for the job aspirants will be held at dedicated centres in every taluk on November 7 and 8. The centres are setup at KPT Kadri; Vidyagiri Campus at Alva’s College, Moodbidri; Govt Junior College, Mulky; Best English School, Bantwal; St Bridget College, Sullia; Dakshina  Kannada Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School, Belthangady and St Victor’s Girls High School, Puttur. As many as 75 trained individuals will deliver the orientation, Rai said.

Vivek Alva of Alva’s College said that the job fair was open only to candidates who have completed their studies and that final year students will not be eligible to take part. Experienced candidates are welcomed, he added.

He further said that recruiters from varied fields such as construction, sales and retail, banking, education, healthcare, pharmacy and hospitality will be participating and that graduates, postgraduates, candidates from ITI, diploma, nursing, engineering, B Pharma and E Pharma stand a good chance to get jobs.

To curb the usual confusions at the job fair and help aspirants approach the right counters, color coding system will be put in place, he said.

DK Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim, SP Sharanappa, Zilla Panchayat CEO Srividya, MCC Mayor Jacintha Alfred and Mangaluru South MLA JR Lobo were present among others.
